From classrooms in Malaysia to teaching in Tehran

Hello, I am Helia Mirmortazavi, an English teacher focused on building real conversational fluency. I spent three years at MIGS International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where English stopped being a school subject and became the language of my daily life.

Back in Iran I noticed something: many learners had studied grammar for years yet froze in a simple conversation. That set my direction. I completed two specialist Teacher Training Courses (TTC) at Meshkat Danesh Language Institute (MLI) — one for children and teenagers, one for adults.

Today I teach at Rah-e Roshd School, Iranmehr and MLI language institutes, and privately — in person in Tehran and online across Iran. Every class rests on one principle: a language is learned by speaking it, not by memorising it.

  • Three years of full-time study in English in an international setting
  • Two specialist TTC certificates (young learners and adults) from MLI

Teaching philosophy

My teaching philosophy

The four principles behind every class

Speaking from session one

Fluency is built by practising, not by reading about the language. From the very first session, most of the class is you speaking.

A plan made only for you

Your goal shapes the syllabus: everyday conversation, university entrance exams, the workplace, or studying and travelling abroad.

A safe place to make mistakes

The biggest barrier to speaking is the fear of getting it wrong. In my class, mistakes are part of the path — this is a place to practise, not to be judged.

Modern teaching methods

Backed by two specialist teacher-training courses, I use current techniques matched to each age group — from games and storytelling to real-situation role-play.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what I am asked most

Are classes in person or online?

Both. In-person classes are held in Tehran, and online classes are available anywhere in Iran. You can switch between them during the course.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes, completely free with no obligation. We establish your level, discuss your goal, and I suggest which course suits you.

I do not know my level. Where do I start?

You do not need to know anything in advance. Just book the free consultation — we establish your level there with a simple conversation. It is not a test.

From what age do you teach children?

The children course starts at age 7. Sessions are shorter (45 minutes) and play-based, designed around a specialist young-learners teacher training certificate.

How long is each session and how many per week?

Children 45 minutes, teens and adults 60 minutes, intensive 90 minutes. Usually one or two sessions a week, more in the intensive course.

How long until I can actually speak?

It depends on your level, goal and above all your practice. Learners who keep up short daily practice usually feel a clear difference after 8 to 12 sessions.

Can I cancel or reschedule a session?

Yes — up to 24 hours before the session. Just message me and we will arrange another time.

Do I need to buy the books and materials?

No. All digital materials, exercises, audio files and worksheets are provided. If a course needs a specific printed book, I will let you know in advance.
